Job Description

REPORTS TO: Bakery Manager & Cafe Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The Barista is responsible for creating a welcoming and exceptional experience for guests of Bellecour’s daytime service. They will take guest orders, expertly prepare a variety of coffee and tea beverages, and assist in delivering food to tables. A deep understanding of our menus, ingredients, and baking/cooking techniques is essential to provide informed recommendations and answer guest inquiries with confidence.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  • Greet guests warmly and take orders for coffee, tea, and other beverages, as well as pastries and menu items.
  • Prepare and serve a wide range of high-quality coffee and tea beverages, including espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, and specialty teas.
  • Operate and maintain coffee and tea equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Offer personalized recommendations based on guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Run food and beverage orders to tables promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the beverage preparation area and service counter.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Restock supplies and inventory as needed.
  • Assist with other tasks as required to support the overall operation of the bakery and cafe.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of coffee and tea preparation techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of bakery and café menus, ingredients, and cooking methods.
  • Ability to memorize and recall menu details and ingredients.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in handling cash and operating POS systems.
  • Stand on your feet for up to 10 hours.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
