Bookkeeper | Manistee, MI

Salary Range: $52,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate coding to production costs and material purchases.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Process payroll, including calculation of wages, deductions, and submission of related tax filings.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures, preparing financial statements such as trial balance and profit and loss.
• Track and reconcile fixed assets, particularly manufacturing equipment, for depreciation purposes.
• Prepare and file sales tax, use tax, and other relevant regulatory reports.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and COGS as applied in manufacturing.
• Ability to assist with month-end close processes and generate basic financial reports.

Bonus Qualifications

• Understanding of cost accounting principles, including inventory valuation and COGS.
• Experience with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with inventory management and production workflows.
