Job Description

Summary: Responsible for the operation, management and oversight of retail convenience store, high volume diesel sales, gasoline sales and, if applicable a deli. Responsible for managing staff, cash and inventory control, merchandising, customer service and profitability of store and deli. Supervisors 10-20 store employees. Must be available to work any shift, any day, including weekends and holiday.

  • Oversees the management of the individual profit centers

Essential Job Functions:

  • Keeps up with all necessary permits and licenses for the location and maintains renewal in a timely manner.
  • Dealing with government agencies and sales representatives
  • Conduct property inspections monthly, and train employees to also do inspections.
  • Review inspection findings and assign correction of the findings to the staff when possible and reporting findings to management.
  • Responsible for controlling cash and all other inventory including but not limited to daily readings/lotto and cigarette inventories
  • Enforces company policy with regard to excessive cash in registers.
  • Insure that reports are completed at the end of each day.
  • Prepare and ensures that daily deposits are made by the store and deli.
  • Responsible for food safety and ability to fix small items and preventative maintenance
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs; coordinate services such as waste removal and pest control
  • Follows correct vendor check-in procedures.
  • Monitors onsite surveillance system daily to ensure it is working properly at all times.
  • Insures that company assets are protected at all times through security operations and surveillance operations.
  • Ensures that facility is kept clean at all times with specific responsibility being assigned to personnel.
  • Responsible that all property safety reporting and responsibilities are met.
  • Able to perform duties of cashier, deli operator (if applicable) and porter
  • Responsible for all hiring, scheduling, disciplining, coaching, and terminating of hourly employees.
  • Train the Store/Deli Associates in their roles as members of the team as well as provide and promote excellent guest service at all levels.
  • Ensure employees have their Responsible Vendor/Server Permit, if applicable
  • Ensure employees have their Class C license for underground storage tanks, if applicable
  • Management and development of employees through effective coaching and training.
  • Complete performance reviews as they are scheduled for associates under their supervision
  • Recommend associates for merit evaluations.
  • Follow all company policies as they are outlined in employee handbook.

  Qualifications:

  • 2 yrs food service, deli or convenience store experience
  • 2 yrs supervisory or management experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures/guidelines
  • Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process transactions
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff
  • Demonstrate the ability to counsel and develop subordinates in a fair, equal, and favorable work environment
  • Ability to perform basic math and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, gross profit margins and analyze financial statements
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Flexibility to accommodate sudden schedule changes and ability to be on call 24-hrs a day to handle emergencies and fill in if necessary

Physical Demands:

This position requires an ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in stocking and merchandising of store inventory, and stand up for long extended period of times, stooping, climbing and bending to stock and inventory merchandise.
