Data Analyst Logistics Business Improvement

Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Hybrid 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote (After Initial Training)

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to support logistics and supply chain business improvement initiatives within a fast-paced commercial operations environment. This role will serve as a key analytics resource responsible for developing reporting tools, dashboards, and actionable insights that improve transportation visibility, operational performance, and business decision-making.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical analytics capabilities, experience working with supply chain or logistics data, and the ability to quickly adapt to evolving systems, tools, and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for logistics data analytics and reporting initiatives
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time operational insights
• Analyze transportation and supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
• Execute exception reporting and perform root cause analysis related to logistics and transportation processes
• Support cross-functional logistics transparency and business improvement initiatives
• Create performance analytics and KPI reporting related to carrier performance, transportation metrics, rail maintenance, truck retention, runouts, overfills, and benchmarking activities
• Translate business reporting requirements into scalable dashboard and reporting solutions
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to support SAP system enhancements and process improvements
• Build and maintain SharePoint or similar collaboration and reporting environments
• Support development and sustainability of business process improvements through metrics, reporting standards, and ownership structures
• Communicate project status, priorities, and deliverables effectively with stakeholders across multiple business functions
• Balance tactical support needs with longer-term strategic analytics initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, MIS, Business, Analytics, or a related field
• Experience supporting commercial supply chain, logistics, transportation, or operations environments
• Strong technical proficiency with:
  • SAP
  • Power BI
  • Tableau
  • Alteryx
  • SQL / MS SQL Server
  • Power Query
  • DAX and advanced data computations
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Demonstrated experience delivering analytics projects from start to finish within defined timelines
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities, systems, and business processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Self-starter capable of working independently in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in analytics or related discipline
• 2+ years of experience in commercial logistics, procurement, transportation, or supply chain support functions
• Experience with SAP SD module and/or SAP S/4 HANA
• Knowledge of supply chain transaction processing and logistics operations
• Prior experience in the oil & gas, transportation, or industrial sectors
