Job Description

Rye Country Day School is seeking a full time Drama and Dance Teacher beginning August 2026. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:

• Teach 3-4 sections of Drama and Dance per semester 
• Direct a minimum of one after school show per season (either the Fall Play or Winter Musical), with an 8 week rehearsal period and 2 weeks of pre-production preparation with colleagues and RCDS community. Potential for more involvement as needed.
• Participate in all school, division, and departmental meetings as well as field trips, special activities, and rotational duties
• Grade students and write reports in a timely manner
• Participate in professional development opportunities
• Nurture a supportive, enthusiastic, and inspiring atmosphere for students
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, administration, and colleagues
• Long-term planning and collaboration with colleagues to build a robust Dance & Drama program

Desired qualifications:

• At least three years of experience teaching at the Middle or Upper School levels
• A bachelor's degree in musical theater, a bachelor’s degree in theater with dance or movement teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of professional experience with 5+ years working as an educator and artist. 
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
• A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and parents

Salary Range: $78,000 - $120,000 based on experience
