Job Summary:


The Genetic Counselor provides specialized care in an outpatient clinic setting, focusing on counseling patients at risk for hereditary cancer. This role serves as a vital consultant and resource for both patients and physicians, ensuring comprehensive cancer risk assessment, accurate interpretation of genetic testing, and essential psychosocial support.

Location:Seattle, Washington, United States

Responsibilities:


- Counsel patients regarding their risk for hereditary cancer.
- Act as a primary consultant and educational resource for patients and physicians.
- Conduct comprehensive cancer risk assessments.
- Order and accurately interpret genetic test results.
- Provide psychosocial assessment and ongoing support to patients.

Required Skills & Certifications:


- Master's Degree from a genetic counseling training program approved by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
- Active Washington Genetic Counselor License (a provisional license is acceptable while the permanent state license is pending).
- Well-rounded clinical experience managing genetic disorders, including risk assessment, test interpretation, and psychosocial support.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:


- At least one year of experience working directly with patients at risk for hereditary cancer.

Special Considerations:


- 13-week contract position located in an outpatient clinic.
- No weekend shifts or on-call duties are required.
- Candidates must be separated from any permanent employment with the facility or its health system for a minimum of 3 months prior to eligibility.

Scheduling:
- 5x8 day shifts.
- Monday through Friday schedule.,
