Description of Job

PAY FOR POSITION:

HOURLY: $29.72 - $39.81

BIWEEKLY: $2,377.38 - $3,184.80

MONTHLY: $5,151.00 - $6,900.40


This work unit exists to protect public health, safety, and the environment and ensure equity in the marketplace in accordance with Colorado laws and regulations by safeguarding against accidental releases from petroleum storage tanks; evaluating petroleum release characteristics; evaluating technical aspects of reimbursement from the Petroleum Storage Tank Fund; and providing information related to the status of site investigations and remediation efforts, as well as regulatory compliance, to the regulated community and other interested parties.

The position exists to inspect petroleum storage tank systems to verify that they comply with pertinent codes, regulations and statutes; to ensure that fuel purchasers receive the correct quantity and quality of product purchased; and to respond to emergencies and customer complaints. Performs routine inspections of service stations and bulk storage plants to verify compliance with requirements pertaining to underground and aboveground storage tanks.

Many program development activities are intended to keep the program current with state-of-the-art developments in the industry. These activities may include identifying emerging fuels and their storage needs, gaining expertise in innovative release detection methods or equipment, or further establishing the connection between release prevention and clean up. Job duties are mostly performed outdoors with the potential of being exposed to all weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
Current, valid Colorado State certification or license in a trade related to the work assigned to the position
  • STI - Standard Tank Institute

  • PEI - Petroleum Equipment Institute

  • Veeder Root

  • Gilbarco

  • Wayne Fueling System

  • SP001 - Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground Storage Tanks


AND


Four (4) years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position


Substitutions:

Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational skills: the ability to set, track, and accomplish priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity, knowing the status of activities at all times.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat.


Required Competencies:
  • Process knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Time Management skills. Knowledge of Regulations and common petroleum industry practices.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.
  • You must pass a thorough background check prior to employment which will include the E-Verify process.
  • A motor vehicle record check will be conducted in addition to the standard background check.
  • The person selected for this position must maintain an unrestricted Colorado driver's license and be able to operate a state vehicle for the purposes of traveling to in-state remote work sites.
  • Candidates must be physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis during their assigned shift.
