Job Description

Make a Difference Every Day

At N.E.W. Community Clinic, every patient has a story-and every member of our team plays a part in helping that story move toward better health.

As a Bilingual Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant, you will often be the first friendly face our patients see. Your ability to communicate in both English and Spanish helps build trust, ease anxiety, and ensure every patient feels welcomed, understood, and cared for. You will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for patients and families from many backgrounds. Your clinical skills, compassion, and ability to connect across languages will help ensure our patients feel heard, respected, and cared for.

Our team believes healthcare works best when it is collaborative, compassionate, and culturally responsive. We support one another, celebrate wins together, and share a deep commitment to serving our community with dignity and respect.

If you enjoy hands-on patient care, working as part of a collaborative healthcare team, and serving a mission that truly matters, we would love to meet you.

What You'll Do

No two days are exactly the same, but you might start your morning by welcoming a patient who feels nervous about their first visit. By mid-morning you're assisting a provider during an exam, drawing labs, and helping a patient understand their next steps for care. Later, you may help a Spanish-speaking family navigate resources or reassure someone who hasn't seen a doctor in years.

Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, provide comfort, and improve health in our community.

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Welcome patients and escort them to exam rooms while helping create a comfortable and respectful environment

  • Gather and document vital signs and patient histories to help providers deliver safe, informed, and personalized care

  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and patients for provider visits and procedures

  • Assist Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and nursing staff during exams and treatments

  • Perform vision and hearing screenings, venipuncture, capillary sticks, specimen collection, and routine lab testing

  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and TB skin tests under appropriate supervision

  • Dispense medications as directed by providers and assist with medication refill requests

  • Notify patients of laboratory or diagnostic results as directed by providers

  • Provide patient education, follow-up instructions, referrals, and wellness screenings

Administrative & Team Support

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies

  • Support patient flow by assisting with scheduling, phone calls, and occasional front desk coverage

  • Track medications received from pharmaceutical companies and maintain required logs

  • Enter and maintain data for clinic reporting using electronic systems and shared drives

  • Stock exam rooms, medical supplies, and medications while communicating inventory needs

  • Collaborate with teammates to maintain a positive, efficient, and respectful clinic environment

What We're looking For

  • WI LPN license OR grad of a CAAHEP-accredited Medical Assistant Program

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • A team-oriented mindset and passion for serving diverse populations

  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills

  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical patient care

Why This Role Matters?

Many of our patients have gone years without access to healthcare. The care you help provide may be the first step toward better health, stability, and hope for individuals and families in our community.

Why Join NEW Community Clinic?

  • Be part of a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to caring for uninsured and underinsured members of our community

  • Work in a collaborative and supportive environment where your voice and contributions are valued

  • Make a direct and meaningful impact on patients and families every day

  • Gain experience in a dynamic clinical setting that supports growth, learning, and teamwork

If you are a compassionate License Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant, want your clinical skills to truly matter, and want to be part of a supportive, mission-driven team, we encourage you to apply.

We'd love to learn about your experience and how you hope to make a difference.

team!
