Overview
The Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level III – NDT Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing on composite aerospace products using Ultrasonic Testing (UT) methods in accordance with NAS410, customer specifications, and internal procedures. This role supports ACPT’s internal NDT capability while coordinating with approved third-party NDT service providers for offsite inspections as required.

This position plays a key role in establishing and maturing NDT inspection processes, ensuring inspection integrity, documentation accuracy, and compliance within a regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. In addition to UT responsibilities, the technician will be cross-trained to support Shearography inspection methods as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities:
Perform and technically oversee Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections on composite aerospace components using portable, handheld equipment.
Review routers, procedures, specifications, and engineering documentation prior to inspection execution.
Set up, standardize, and operate UT equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results against defined acceptance criteria.
Identify, evaluate, and disposition discontinuities exceeding specified requirements.
Complete inspection records, logs, and data sheets accurately and in accordance with quality requirements.
Coordinate with approved third-party NDT service providers to support offsite inspections, including part preparation, documentation, and technical communication.
Review and validate third-party NDT inspection reports to ensure compliance with customer, contractual, and internal requirements.
Maintain working knowledge of applicable NDT procedures, specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
Provide technical guidance to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams regarding UT inspection requirements and results.
Support cross-training and qualification in Shearography inspection methods, including equipment setup and inspection execution, as required.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
7+ years of relevant mechanical inspection experience, including 3+ years of composite Ultrasonic Testing (UT / NDI).
ASNT Level III certification in Ultrasonic Testing, with certification in accordance with NAS410 (documentation required).
Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
Hands-on experience setting up, standardizing, and overseeing UT inspection equipment and processes.
Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing, aerospace tooling, and assembly processes.
Solid working knowledge of 3D CAD models and inspection correlation.
Ability to interpret, disposition, and document inspection results and non-conformances.
Experience working in regulated aerospace quality environments.
Ability to pass near-vision and color-perception exams.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating with third-party NDT service providers, including review of external inspection reports and documentation.
Exposure to or interest in Shearography inspection methods.
Experience working within AS9100 and NADCAP-controlled environments.
Willingness to cross-train and certify in additional NDT methods as business needs evolve.

Salary: $50.00/hr
