Job Description
This position performs maintenance and repair work on vessel piping systems and related infrastructure as
assigned by the Accommodations Maintenance Manager. The role requires a skilled tradesperson capable of
working across plumbing, environmental, sanitary, pool systems, and similar equipment. The incumbent
must operate safely, follow ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, and all environmental and safety
policies, and be willing to work alternate shift schedules as required.Key Responsibilities
• Carry out maintenance and repair work on piping systems, plumbing, environmental, sanitary, pool
systems, and related components as directed.
• Perform tasks in accordance with ISM/ISO, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, and environmental and
safety policies.
• Inspect, repair, and troubleshoot pumps, valves, fittings, and associated equipment; document work
and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain and conserve ship systems in scope (plumbing, environmental, sanitary, pool), ensuring
proper operation and timely servicing.
• Adhere to safety procedures and participate in drills; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work
environment.
• Be flexible to work alternate shift schedules and respond to on-call or urgent maintenance needs as
required.
• Support cost containment through careful use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; minimize
waste and downtime.
• Collaborate with supervisors and crew members to complete work orders efficiently; perform tasks
as assigned without supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications & Training
• Minimum 2 years of previous experience onboard vessels essential
• Relevant plumbing, HVAC, or refrigeration certifications as applicable
• Welder certification (DNV, Lloyds) or equivalent certification
• Completed STCW95 and social responsibility trainingLanguage Requirements
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests and crew.
• Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures; ability to give and
receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to
questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Additional languages are advantageous but not required.Physical & Environmental Requirements
• Physical: Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;
talk or hear; and taste or smell. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to
adjust focus.
• Environmental: Must be able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills; work in
shipboard environments with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, noise, and confined spaces; wear
appropriate PPE; and operate in variable weather conditions as required. Full use of arms, legs,
vision, hearing, and communication abilities is required to perform duties effectively, including safety
and emergency procedures
