Job Description and Duties

This is a 24-month limited term position which may be extended, cancelled, or made permanent at any time.

If becoming permanent, the selected candidate must be eligible for a permanent appointment at the time of the LT appointment or at the time of the conversion.

This position may be filled at one of the following State Fund locations:   Fresno, Glendale, Redding, Riverside, Sacramento or Vacaville

The Claims Processing Center (CPC) has an immediate opening for a Business Support Analyst to be filled at the Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster classification level. Currently this position is a work from home position, which requires fast and reliable internet in order to access State Fund’s network and applications. The position may be transitioned to the office if the internet speed cannot support working from home.

The successful candidate will provide support and offer feedback to program management and staff to foster continuous improvement of Claims Processing Center operations through analysis, reporting/recommendations, coordination, and facilitation of administrative issues and projects related to planning, workflow, budgeting, physical resources, human resources, and systems objectives.

The ideal candidate will be expected to:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Provide quality customer service in a timely manner
  • Assist CPC Leadership Team with development and implementation of medical cost containment projects to support Claims operational objectives
  • Evaluate and update electronic reporting systems, analytical processes, and written documentation to meet changing priorities in support of Claims and Legal Department proposals
  • Defend State Fund against fraudulent activities
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and/or communication availability during working hours

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
